UNITED STATES RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP INSTITUTES TWO-WHEEL DRIVE CHAMPIONSHIP
Laughlin, Nevada -- The United States Rally Championship (USRC) recognizes the importance of two-wheel drive (2WD) rally cars for the development and the well-being of the sport of rallying in the United States. The Championship is therefore prepared to lend support to those numerous competitors who compete in 2WD classes. With the recent proliferation of all-wheel drive (AWD) turbocharged rally cars, the Championship wishes to provide more visibility to teams with 2WD cars.
Toward that end, the Board of Directors of the United States Rally Championship, Inc. has decided to institute a 2WD United States Rally Championship. Effective immediately, the overall USRC classification will be separated into the 2WD United States Rally Championship and the AWD United States Rally Championship.
The winners of the United States Rally Championship in the 2WD classes will receive the titles of the USRC 2WD Driver Champion and the USRC 2WD Co-Driver Champion. Similarly, the winners of the United States Rally Championship in the AWD classes will be awarded the titles of the USRC AWD Driver Champion and the USRC AWD Co-Driver Champion.
The United States Rally Championship, Americas premier rally championship, consists of Federation Internationale de LAutomobile (FIA) internationally listed events sanctioned by the United States Auto Club (USAC) and presented by the National Auto Sport Association (NASA). More information on the Championship is available at the series website at www.usrallychampionship.com. More information on USAC is available at www.usacracing.com, on NASA at www.nasarallysport.com and on FIA at www.fia.com.
