Last Ditch Racing goes to Rallye Defi!

Bangor, Maine, USA -- Maine based rally team Last Ditch Racing is heading North to Canada to compete in the Rallye Defi/St. Agathe. Round four of the Canadian National Rally Championship, the event takes place in and around St. Agathe/Duhamel, Quebec. North of Montreal, the region is known for its many ski resorts and beautiful scenary.

The Last Ditch Racing crew has had an outstanding 2008 season, including three outright Regional event wins and a fifth overall finish at the New England Forest Rally against national competitors from around the country and beyond. The team currently leads the Rally America Eastern Regional Championship both Overall and in the top Open Class.

"There's no doubt that 2008 has been a watershed year for the team," said owner/driver John Cassidy. "We've worked really hard to develop the car and push ourselves this season and the results speak to that. After nine years in rally, I think we're finally starting to get it!"

Cassidy will be co-driven by Dr. Jennifer Daly from British Colombia, Canada. "Things always seem to work out in rally. Dave Getchell couldn't make the event due to a hectic work schedule and Jennifer had a plane ticket to Defi, but no ride, so we've decided to give it a go and see what happens!" Jennifer has experience in Open Class cars in the Western Canadian Rally Championship and both she and Cassidy are hoping to learn from one another and see if they can find the speed they need at Defi!

Although Last Ditch Racing has met their goals in the US Eastern Championship, Canadian National events are always on their Calender. Said Cassidy, "We have many friends and fans in Canada and the events are some of the best in North America. If we can find a way to make it to them, we do!"

If the team retains its lead in the Eastern Regional Championship, they'll most likely make the trek again to Missouri for the 100 Acre Wood Rally in early 2009. The team was very competitive there in early 2008, but a penalty saw them loose the event after winning the majority of the stages outright. "We'd like to have another chance on the fast roads of Missouri to show our speed and continue to develop the car."

What's the plan for 2009!? Cassidy and Getchell are mum at the moment, meaning they either don't have a clue what they want to do or something else in the works. "We've met our goals regionally the past two years, and while we want to continue to support the Eastern Regional events, it'd be nice to stretch our wings a bit and see how we stack up against our friends in the National Championship."

Last Ditch Racing would like to thank their 2008 Partners for their support:
