CAVE CREEK, Arizona -- Scott Rally Team is heading to Rumford, Maine to compete in the sixth round of the 2003 SCCA Pro Rally Championship August 1-2. Scott Team will step it up a notch to close the points gap as the end of the 2003 season draws near.

Scott Team took second place in the group 2 championship at Oregon Trail July 12-13. "We are very pleased with the rally in Oregon. We really kicked it into gear and got our momentum going to increase our points standing," said driver/owner Brian Scott. "The last race proved that we are a competitor in this group. It also increased the teams comfort level and confidence with the car."

The Maine Forest Rally will consist of 11 special stages, ranging in length from 1/2 to 22 miles, with a total stage length of 124 miles. Friday's rally will consist of 4 stages totaling 22 miles and Saturday's rally will have 7 stages totaling 103 miles.

Scott Team will be taking on the Maine trails with the goal to change the points standing. Currently, Scott is third behind Jeff Burmeister and Chris Whiteman. The Maine Forest Rally is a key race for all competitors as the end of the 2003 season draws near.

"The outcome of the Maine Rally will be critical to our position in the group 2 championship," said Scott. "I think each rally will get even more competitive as we enter these last four races of the season," said Scott. "The team will stay focused and committed to ensure that we maintain our speed and control to stay within the competitive range."

Maine Forest Rally will be the sixth round of nine in the 2003 SCCA Pro Rally Championship.

This is the third season for Scott racing, which includes driver Brian Scott, co-driver Dave Hackett, crew chief Ed Hale and Troy Crabbtree.
