Costa Mesa, California -- Porterfield Brakes of Costa Mesa, California, announced today that they will once again be the official brake supplier for the Tombstone Paintball Widget Rally Team. This is their fifth straight year of support. "We like being associated with winners," reported Andy Porterfield, "The Widget Rally Team always gives us plenty of positive exposure." The team took home driver and codriver championships for both the California Rally Series and the SCCA Southern Pacific Division in 2002.
Support for the Tombstone Paintball Widget organization is expanding in 2003. Not only will Porterfield, a leading supplier of Performance Friction products for both racing and street applications, continue to provide pads for the team's new Mitsubishi Evolution, they'll provide equipment for teammate George Plsek's Evolution. A third car, campaigned by Lon Peterson and Aaron Laeng at regional events, will also take advantage of the strength of Porterfield brakes. Like the primary car, Peterson's is sponsored by Tombstone Paintball Park.
"Last year we earned a couple of regional championships," noted car owner and driver Leon Styles. "It's time we stepped it up a notch so we're going to be scrapping with the big boys for a national title. Now more than ever we count on Porterfield brake pads for maximum performance."
Like Porterfield Brakes, Shults Dot Com has supported the Widget Rally Team since 1999. Similarly, they've renewed their commitment to the team for 2003 as they continue to host the team's web site and offer other internet services. "John and MaryAnne [Shults] have been enthusiasic partners with our team since the early years," noted codriver John Dillon. "We're delighted that they've signed on again to host WidgetRacing.com."
The Tombstone Paintball Widget Rally Team's race cars and service vehicles are transported around the country by 7-24 AirX, an on-demand full-service shipping company. Communications gear is provided by Sampson Communications. The team's next race, the Rim of the World Rally, is scheduled for May 2nd and 3rd in Palmdale, California. The prime time broadcast of the rally will be a few weeks later on The Speed Channel.
