PHOENIX, Arizona -- Scott Rally Team had a strong finish at the Susquehannock Trail ProRally on June 7-8 in Wellsboro, Pennsylvania sporting the new 2003 Ford Focus SVT. This marked only the second race driving the Focus after switching from a Production GT Mitsubishi Eclipse.
Brian Scott and co-driver Ed Wahl had a strong run earning a third place finish in the Group 2 class and a 22nd position overall, bringing the teams current point standing to third in the Group 2 season championship.
Driver/owner Scott was pleased with the results. "Considering our transition, I am very happy with our progress." Scott Team is still in the process of learning to drive the new car on very unpredictable roads. "With each race, our team is becoming more comfortable with the car and we're ready to kick it into gear going into Oregon."
STPR experienced a high attrition rate so it was important for Scott Team to keep up their speed and avoid making any costly mistakes. The team experienced a few mechanical problems at STPR, but overall the car ran very well. "We were close to the leaders in our class, but we just couldn't close the gap. Instead of making a mistake that could hurt our position, we decided not to push too hard in the new car," said Scott.
Scott Team is looking forward to the Oregon Trail ProRally July 12 - 13. Oregon will be a pivotal race in terms of point standings for the team. Co-driver Dave Hackett will join Scott in the next race. "Hackett has a great deal of experience with the northwest events," said Scott. "Our team is very familiar with the Oregon race and so this will be a good time for us to really get our momentum going."
This is the third season for Scott racing, which includes driver Brian Scott, co-drivers Dave Hackett and Ed Wahl, crew chief Ed Hale and Troy Crabbtree.
