Last Ditch Racing to compete in the Rally Of The Tall Pines

Bangor, Maine, USA -- Maine based Pro Rally team Last Ditch Racing heads North to Canada to compete in the Rally Of The Tall Pines, November 21-22.

As noted on the event website, "Dirt, snow and ice routinely mix together on the roads to provide a supreme test of driving skill. As the final event of the Canadian Rally Championship, the Rally of the Tall Pines also features tight year-end battles which make for hard driving and great spectating." Attended by more than 8,000 fans in 2002, the event is the last in the 2003 Canadian Rally Championship.

Driver/owner John Cassidy and co-driver Dave Getchell will once again strap into their 1998 Subaru Impreza turbo to challenge themselves and the roads. They will be among more than 17 Open Class cars competing in the event and will start in position 25 in a field of 61 entries.

Says Cassidy, "We're going to Canada to show that our recent 10th place finish at the Rallye Defi. St. Agathe-Duhamel was no fluke. Dave and I are continuing to develop as a team and come to grips with our new turbo car." The team has been working quite hard to upgrade some aspects of the car in order to improve operating efficiency and reliability.

Rally Of The Tall Pines will be the last event for the team until the Rallye Perce-Neige Maniwaki in early February 2004. The team plans to contest the entire 2004 Canadian Rally Championship as well as select events in the US. "Being an Eastern US team affords us easy access to most Canadian events, which see very competitive fields and superb organization," said Cassidy.

Cassidy and Getchell would like to thank their stalwart crew, who have made the successes of 2003 possible. "They often work hungry and sleep deprived in the cold, rain and snow so that we can go out and spank our car as hard as possible-without them we'd be lost. They keep us fed and forbid us to slow down," said Cassidy. Team LDR for 2003 includes: Eric Wages, Margaret Michaels, Duncan Matlack, George Hartz, Bronson Crothers, Matt Robinson, Nate Dwelley.

2003 has seen the team steadily move up the finish board. The team has entered six events to date, traveling to California, Canada and Pennsylvania. Once again displaying their trademark consistency, the team has had no DNF's in 2003, while achieving their first top 10 finish of the team's history at the recent Rallye Defi. St. Agathe-Duhamel.

Last Ditch Racing would like to thank their sponsors for a successful 2003 season. "Without their support, we would have a difficult time maintaining this level of performance.
