Portsmouth New Hampshire -- The team is very excited about their new and growing relationship with New England Ford Dealers Association for all New England SCCA ProRally events.
"We looked at many alternatives for a new vehicle for the 2003 season - The Ford Focus SVT had all the makings of an excellent Production class performer. It's a 2Liter car with 170hp and 145lbs torque from 2500 rpm all the way to red line. This car is built predominantly by German engineers - and it shows in its natural and neutral stability." said driver/owner Vittorio Bares.
Portsmouth Ford of Portsmouth New Hampshire was the first to step up and offer the team an excellent deal on the SVT. In general you'll find some of the best deals around at Portsmouth Ford - they're the highest volume Ford dealer in New England. Many of their technicians also own SVT's and are passionate about their work (Thanks Shane!).
New England Ford Dealers Association is a major contributor for all New England events. They will be supporting our efforts at the Maine Forest ProRally and supported the team at the Race-A-Rama car show. New England Ford Dealers Association stepped up to the plate because they see a tremendous opportunity in the exposure Team Xtreme Focus will generate for the Ford Focus SVT as a performance and endurance package. All New England Ford dealers will benefit from the Team Xtreme Focus effort.
"We went to New England Ford Dealers Association because we believe Ford & SVT have put together a performance package that is totally undervalued in the market place. The Focus in any form, ZX3, ZX5, LX, SE, ZTW and SVT.is an exceptional value and will stand up to any of its competitors. I don't believe the market is aware of what the Special Vehicle Team has been able to achieve in this platform. In its class, it has no rivals. We intend, through US Performance Rally, on showing the speed, balance and durability that has been built into this vehicle" was Vittorio's comment.
"It's quite apparent that Ford had motor sport in mind, particularly their WRC effort, as the chassis of the Focus is incredible and that alone gives us an advantage over the competition. I can't wait to see what Else Ford and SVT have in store for the Enthusiast. It's also been very helpful in the construction to be able to draw on the knowledge and technology that has already been developed in Europe by the large and growing following the Focus has developed in Rallying there." Forest Fyrberg of F2 Engineering
Chris Rushwin of New England Ford Dealers association has been the man behind the scenes who believes in what the team is trying to accomplish. "We're very happy to support Team Xtreme Focus in this venture. Rallying is an incredible sport that tests both man and machine. We believe in the Ford Focus SVT as an able competitor and expect great things from it and the team" said Chris.
