INTERNATIONAL RALLY NEW YORK
FINALE OF THE UNITED STATES RALLY CHAMPIONSHIP

Forestburgh, New York — Thirty six teams from all over the United States and from abroad are on the entry list for the International Rally New York (www.RallyNewYork.com) on October 30 November 1, 2008.

International Rally New York is the final round of the 2008 United States Rally Championship - USRC - (www.usrallychampionship.com) with the Annual Championship Awards Ceremony. The rally consists of 93 miles of special stages. The total length of the two-day event is 360 miles. The highest-scoring six teams from the USRC Pacific Division are eligible for the coveted cash travel subsidies totaling $12,000 to attend the final round in New York. The event also encompasses two final rounds of the New York Rally Championship (www.RallyNewYork.com).

Top teams from all over the country will compete for the titles of the United States Rally Champion in the All-Wheel-Drive category and the United States Rally Champion in the Two-Wheel-Drive category. Newly introduced USRC Production Cup will be awarded in the All-Wheel-Drive category and in the Two-Wheel-Drive category.

Notable entries are Thomas Lawless, the 2005 United States Rally Champion, with Irish co-driver Brian Sharkey in a Mitsubishi Evo 9, the two-time (2006 and 2007) United States Rally Champion Seamus Burke with Eddie Fries, the 2007 Champion Co-Driver, also in Mitsubishi Evo 9 and the 2006 United States Rally Champions in Two-Wheel-Drive Bruce Davis and Jimmy Brandt in Dodge Neon SRT-4.

Going into the final round, Brian Scott and John Dillon, entered in Subaru Impreza WRX STi, are leading the All-Wheel-Drive Championship and Bruce Davis and Jimmy Brandt are leading in the Two-Wheel-Drive Championship. The leading entries in the Production Cup competitions are Jimmy Keeney and Melissa Keeney in All-Wheel-Drive, and Hampton Bridwell with Josh Katinger and Kristopher Marciniak with Christine Marciniak are tied in Two-Wheel-Drive.

The United States Rally Championship is taking bold steps to make national competition more affordable and accessible to a larger number of rally teams. This is the second season of the new Championship structure that minimizes or, for many teams, eliminates the need for repeated cross-country travel during the Championship season by providing competition on each side of the country. The final round of the Championship at the end of the year counts both in the Atlantic Division and the Pacific Division and together with the results from all previous rounds decides the top spots in the Championship.

Rally New York organization also presents the Rally New York USA on April 17 - 18, 2009. This tarmac event is the first round of the 2009 United States Rally Championship. All Rally New York events are conducted according to the international rules with three-pass reconnaissance on Thursday and two days of racing on Friday and Saturday. Most events in the United States Rally Championship allow for reconnaissance of the rally course.
