Monticello, NY -- The Rally New York organization wishes to announce two important changes to our events in 2006, and a significant new event.

Rally New York USA 2006 (April 7-8) will be an all-tarmac (pavement) event, not a gravel-surface rally as originally planned. The gravel roads in the Catskills may be too soft and muddy during the Spring thaw to support rally cars. (Spring weather may come late in the mountains - we had two feet of snow on some of the roads on April 1, 2005.)

International Rally New York 2006 (September 22-23) will be changed to have all of its special stages (speed tests) on gravel, since the Spring rally will be held on the pavement.

Rally New York USA and International Rally New York will be rounds of the United States Rally Championship, which is sanctioned by the United States Auto Club (USAC), and presented by the National Auto Sport Association (NASA). Both will also be rounds of the Eastern States Rally Championship, which is sanctioned by NASA Rally Sport.

Winter Rally New York Rallysprint (January 21) will be an important addition to the northeastern U.S. calendar. It will consist of three runs in each direction on a single 4.5-mile special stage, on snow and gravel, for a total of 27 competitive miles. Timing of the event will allow two drivers to share a car, if desired. If this event is popular, it may lead to a Winter Rally New York in 2007.
